The NFL season has not started yet, but Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is already celebrating a major milestone in his personal life. On Tuesday, Herbert announced that he is engaged to singer-songwriter Madison Beer.
The couple shared the happy news with a joint Instagram post featuring photos from the proposal. Their caption was short and simple: "Meet my fiancé."
Herbert and Beer first sparked dating rumors in August 2025 after they were seen together during the filming of one of Beer's music videos. As the NFL season continued, Beer was spotted at several Chargers games. Their relationship became public when they shared a kiss on the sideline before the Chargers' Week 5 game against the Washington Commanders.
The pair have also made several public appearances together, including attending a Los Angeles Dodgers World Series game and sitting courtside at a Los Angeles Lakers game.
Earlier this year, Herbert appeared in the music video for Beer's song "Lovergirl," which was released as part of her album "Locket Deluxe."
During the Chargers' first day of training camp, Herbert was asked whether he felt more nervous before proposing or before his first NFL start. He smiled and answered, "The proposal, for sure."
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh congratulated the couple and shared his excitement. He even joked about the possibility of playing a big game at SoFi Stadium on Valentine's Day.
Harbaugh has supported the relationship from the beginning. Earlier this year, Herbert missed part of the team's voluntary offseason workouts to support Beer while she was on tour. At the time, Harbaugh joked by asking if Herbert needed a ride to the airport and said he was happy to see his quarterback supporting his partner.
The engagement announcement quickly became a huge hit on Instagram, earning more than 5.7 million likes within 24 hours. Fans, fellow athletes, and the official NFL account all congratulated the couple and wished them the best for their future together.
